象の鼻テラスが文化的交流を行う国際プロジェクト「PORT JOURNEY Yokohama↔Melbourne」（※）
では、メルボルンのアーティストランオーガナイゼーションWEST SPACEとのパートナーシップが決定、
キュレーターZara Stanhopeの協力を経て、メルボルンのアーティスト、Prue Crome（プルー・クローム）の参加が決定しました。
この度、象の鼻テラスでは、Prue Cromeのアーティストトークを開催します。
メルボルンを拠点に活動を行っているアーティスト、Prue Cromeは、人工的な光や自然光、色、線、日常的に使うマテリアルなどを使ってダイナミックに空間を変容させることで、空間そのものの機能自体をも変えてしまうサイトスペシフィックなインスタレーション作品を多数発表しています。
本トークでは、7月に象の鼻テラスで発表する新作のインスタレーションについて、アーティスト本人よりご紹介いたします。また、彼女が滞在期間中、象の鼻テラスという場所と空間に対してどのようにアプローチを行い、どのようなリサーチを行ったのかが分かるリサーチの成果発表とともに、これまで行ってきた過去の活動や作品もあわせて紹介いたします。7月に発表する作品展示とあわせて是非、ご来場ください。

【アーティストプロフィール】
メルボルン在住のアーティスト。
オーストラリア国内を中心に20年以上の活動歴があり、2008年に王立メルボルン工科大学で修士号を修得。環境科学の分野でも活動しており、Francis Crome Pty Ltd Environmental Consultancyの共同代表を務めています。
工業デザインに始まり、グラフィックデザインを経てアーティスト活動を始めたプルー。初期にはシルクスクリーン、エアブラシを用いた社会的、政治的、自然史を扱った写実的な作品を制作。その後、主・客体の関係性を哲学的に考察、陶磁を用いて大規模な作品を創作。メルボルンに移住後、光や色が人間の感受性を刺激するメカニズムを利用して、現象学的な観点から鑑賞者とアートオブジェの相互関係を探求する現在の制作スタイルを確立しました。光と色が変化するという特徴を用いて、時空間の連続性や重なりを強調する空間へのインターベンションやサイトスペシフィックなインスタレーションを展開すると共に、その様子をドキュメントした写真作品も制作します。
近年は、ウェストスペース、ウェストウィング、ファーストサイト、ダイアン・タンザギャラリーで（いずれもメルボルン）で個展を行っており、国内外で多数のグループ展に参加、上海ではキュレーションも行いました。オーストラリ、米国、シンガポールで作品が個人蔵されています。

象の鼻テラスが横浜の姉妹、提携港がある都市を皮切りに、クリエイティブ活動が盛んな世界の港町との文化的交流を図る国際プロジェクト。
文化活動をけん引する有識者を招きディスカッションを重ね、都市文化に触れる機会を創出する文化コンテンツをジャンルレスに展開。2011年9月にメルボルン（オーストラリア）との交流が始まっており、今後はサンディエゴ（U.S.A.）、上海（中国）、ハンブルク（ドイツ）、バーゼル（スイス）、ブリストル（U.K.）、バンクーバー（カナダ）などを予定している。

We announce that ZOU-NO-HANA’s international project for cultural exchange, ‘PORT JOURNEY Yokohama↔Melbourne’ (※) have formed a partnership relation with WEST SPACE, Melbourne’s leading artist run organization last December. In support of Melbourne based curator, Zara Stanhope, we invite Melbourne based artist, Prue Crome, to participate the Yokohama part of this exchange program with WEST SPACE.
Prue has been actively exhibiting her dynamic site specific installation works which often transform not only the space but the function of the space, by using what’s surround us as a material of her work such as artificial light, natural light, color, line, or everyday materials.
Prior to her exhibition planned at ZOU-NO-HANA terrace this July, Prue will visit Yokohama this month for one-week research followed by her artist talk. At the talk, she will give an introduction to her artistic practice, and will share her research in Yokohama and its outcome where she will investigate various materials and approaches to compose her new site-specific installation work in the unique space, which ZOU-NO-HANA terrace offers.

【Artist Profile】
Prue Crome has been a practicing artist for 20 years. She completed her Master of Fine Arts in 2008 at RMIT University Melbourne, Australia.
Her early background is in the environmental sciences and she is still currently a co-director of Francis Crome Pty Ltd Environmental Consultancy. Her foundation in the arts was ignited by studies in Industrial Design, which lead to graphic, screen-printing and airbrush photorealism works with a socio-political / natural history narrative. After 13 years running her art business she became interested in the production of large-scale figurative and abstract ceramic forms exploring scale and the relationship of object and subject underpinned by a philosophical dialogue.
Following a move to Melbourne, diminution of personal objects and 5 years of study, Crome’s art practice moved to the phenomenological interrelationship of the viewer to the objects and space around them. Her installations use the manipulation of light and colour as mechanisms for heightening ones perception of space and time. Her works encompass site conditioned / specific interventions, projections of time sequences which insert one sites space and time onto another and photographic documentation of transformations formed through light and colour.
Crome has been in many group exhibitions in Australia and curatorial roles in Shanghai and Queensland and her works are held in private collections in Australia, Singapore and USA. Her solo exhibitions include West Wing 2010, West Space 2010 and 2008, Dianne Tanzer 2010 and First Site 2006 in Melbourne and Cairns Regional Gallery, Queensland in 2002.

What's PORT JOURNEY(※) ?
PORT JOURNEY is ZOU-NO-HANA’s international project that attempts cultural exchanges with Yokohama’s sister port cities and affiliated port cities across the world. The project invites leaders and well-informed people in cultural fields and hold series of discussions and developing cultural contents that create opportunities to engage with urban culture of various genres. From September 2011, the exchange with Melbourne, Australia has been started. The exchanges with other cities are planned such as San Diego (USA), Shanghai (China), Hamburg (Germany), Basel (Switzerland), Bristle (U.K.), Vancouver (Canada).
